The Burnaby Board of Trade, one of the largest chambers of commerce and business associations in the province, is joining the “50/30 Challenge” to support diversity in the business community, and pledging to meet the goals of gender parity and inclusion of 30% under-represented groups on its board of directors.

The “50/30 Challenge” - launched by the federal government last month - is an initiative to help support diversity in the business community.

“Having achieved gender parity on its board of directors several years ago, the BBoT is eager to participate in and support this important initiative,” said a news release.

The Burnaby Board of Trade has also relaunched its own Women’s Business Success Network (WBSN) at a special panel discussion on women’s leadership. The WBSN is a network of professionals, both women and men, who are interested in supporting women in business.

The WBSN will hold programming designed to educate, connect and inspire its members, and members can contribute to a managing committee which will discuss issues and develop policies that can further support women in business.

Professionals from any location or sector are invited to join the WBSN at no charge to stay connected to and updated on its work, and can sign up at BBOT.ca/Women.
