Burnaby residents will have full access to city hall starting in the new year.

In a news release today (Dec. 8), the city says a reopening date is set for Jan. 4, 2022.

Residents will be able to pay taxes, obtain licenses and attend regular public council and committee meetings in person.

City hall will be back to its regular schedule on Thursdays until 8 p.m.

Visitors and staff will be expected to follow all health and safety protocols associated with the COVID-19 pandemic when in the building, including wearing a mask in common areas.

However, proof of vaccination will not be required.

"Burnaby residents who are not comfortable or able to attend City Hall in person will still be able to access services online and by phone," the release adds.

Open council meetings, special council meetings, public hearings, board of variance, committees and commissions meetings will continue to be accessible via livestream.
