Burnaby cops seize $17K in cash, plus Tesla filled with 'illicit' mushrooms

Cash and drugs found in recent traffic stops

The Burnaby RCMP Twitter account is developing a sense of humour about the criminals it is taking down.

Local police officers seized piles of cash and drugs during a recent traffic stop in which a Tesla was pulled over during an impaired roadblock.

The drugs include eight bags of “illicit” mushrooms.

“We’ve heard the Tesla is roomy, but this one was Shroomy…,” read a tweet. “Vehicle charged … maybe owner too.”

A laugh riot.

Cops also seized $6,000 in cash and bags of cannabis.

Another recent traffic stop turned into drug trafficking investigation as heroin, cocaine, crack, two cell phones, and $1,300 in cash were found.

The driver was using a rental vehicle, which is another way dealers try and evade police.

Earlier this week, yet another traffic stop of a Lexus found the driver with 100 pills of suspected fentanyl plus more than $10,000 in cash.

“These drugs are killing people,” RCMP tweeted.

Burnaby’s top cop said recently that the local RCMP is “immediately supplementing” its gang team with extra resources after two deadly gangland shootings in the city in less than a week.

“Disregard for human life is not to be tolerated. This is our number 1 priority,” Supt. Graham De la Gorgendiere said at a press conference at Burnaby RCMP headquarters following the shootings.
