Burnaby emergency warming centre opens ahead of expected snowfall

Environment Canada said between 10 and 30 cm of snow is anticipated for the region.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver, including Burnaby, with snowfall amounts ranging from 10 to 30 cm.

The City of Burnaby has activated its emergency warming centre ahead of anticipated snowfall. 

On Thursday (Feb. 23), Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver, including Burnaby, that could see between 10 and 30 cm Saturday night (Feb. 25) with temperatures hovering at the freezing mark. 

The overnight warming centre at 7320 Buller Ave. is scheduled to operate from 8:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily until further notice, the city said in a news release.

It added the location was chosen because it provides the necessary space and amenities.
