Burnaby fire crews responded to a fire on the 29th floor of a building on Holdom Avenue in Burnaby Sunday afternoon.

Burnaby fire crews responded to a fire on the 29th floor of a building on Holdom Avenue in Burnaby Sunday afternoon.

The fire, which lasted about 20 minutes before being quelled by the Burnaby Fire Department, according to bystanders, caused the evacuation of the highrise, located at the southwest corner of Holdom and Lougheed Highway. A short stretch of Holdom south of Lougheed was closed to traffic as crews responded to the fire.

A black spot of fire damage was visible on the balcony of a south-facing unit at the top of the building.
