About 30 firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at a warehouse in Burnaby early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were alerted of a fire in the 6500 block of Beresford Street near Conway Avenue around 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, according to assistant fire Chief Rick Weir.
When they arrived on scene, firefighters were able to confine the blaze to one of three office-type suites on the second floor of the Beresford Street warehouse – the same suite where investigators believe the fire started, Weir added.
“The fire damage was confined to one (suite), but the smoke damage was to all three,” Weir said. “There was heavy fire damage to the one – it went to a second alarm.”
Nine trucks and about 30 firefighters were called in to assist with the blaze. By 9 a.m. crews had cleared the scene.
Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire but, Weir said, at this time, they have no reason to believe it was anything suspicious.
