There are several employment opportunities that have opened up with the City of Burnaby as preparations are made for an upcoming byelection.
A report made to the city council earlier this month outlined several key dates for the byelection scheduled for June 26 to fill the vacancies left by the passing of Couns. Nick Volkow and Paul McDonell in 2020. To make the byelection possible the city has called for applicants to several election-related jobs.
Applicants can apply for the following positions online.
- Presiding Election Official (PEO)
- Alternate Presiding Election Official (APEO)
- Greeter
- Election Official (EO)
- Machine Attendant (MA)
- Health and Safety Attendant (HSA)
- Customer Service Attendant (CSA)
According to the same report, other dates for the byelection include a nomination period of May 11 to 21, a declaration of candidates on May 21, a campaign period of May 29 to June 26, and a declaration of election by voting on May 31.
Advance voting would take place on June 12 and 16 at Willingdon Community Centre, Cameron Recreation Complex, Bonsor Recreation Complex and Alan Emmott Center, and on June 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 at Bill Copeland Sports Centre.
