The Burnaby Hindu Temple is hosting its annual picnic this Sunday and inviting local resident to come out and enjoy free vegetarian food.
The picnic is on Sunday, July 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park at the south end of Byrne Road.
"It's just for fun," said Pushpanjli Matharoo, public relations officer for the temple. "We provide food and entertainment for all ages, and a lot of activities, for younger people and older people."
According to Matharoo, the picnic usually draws a crowd of several hundred people.
"Everybody's welcome. Our name is Hindu temple, but we respect all religions. It doesn't matter what religion, colour, whatever," she said.
The temple is at now 3885 Albert St., in north Burnaby, but a new temple is being built on Marine Drive on the south side of the city. For more information, go to hindutempleburnabybc.com or call 604-299-5922. For more information on the picnic, call organizer Vanita Puri at 604-861-9088.
