Native Cantonese and Mandarin speakers are invited to attend an open forum on services at Burnaby Hospital this weekend.

More than 100 people are expected to attend the Burnaby Hospital Community Consultation Committee open forum, to be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Crystal Mall, 4500 Kingsway Ave.

The forum will be conducted almost entirely in Mandarin and Cantonese by Thomas Tam, former CEO of SUCCESS (Cantonese) and Angela Kan (Mandarin) with the help of Dr. Susan Kwan, a specialist at Burnaby Hospital._

The 12-member committee, which includes local residents, doctors, business owners and members of the legislative assembly, was formed to assess Burnaby's current and future health needs by consulting with individuals, community groups, and groups associated with Burnaby Hospital in Vancouver and Burnaby to see what they want for the future of Burnaby hospital. _ _

The committee is working with doctors, healthcare providers, unions, employers and community associations to listen to the community, gather information, and explore ways to improve the delivery of healthcare services and healthcare outcomes at the hospital.

The committee's co-chairs, MLA Richard Lee and MLA Harry Bloy, will also be in attendance at this weekend's forum, along with citizen chair Pamela Gardner.
