Hundreds of thousands of Canadians need emergency food support as they struggle with the impact from COVID-19.

Food programs through schools and community centres are suspended due to social and physical distancing measures put into place by the various Health Authorities. Meanwhile, food banks and other charities are dealing with food shortages and new challenges imposed by social distancing.

During the month of Ramadan, the Burnaby Ismaili Muslim community, through its initiative called Ismaili CIVIC, will partner with various grocers across Canada to engage the public to donate newly purchased food items. This food will be donated directly through the grocers to various food bank partners. Ismaili CIVIC and its grocery store partners are stepping up to ensure that food can reach Canadians who need it the most.

This initiative will launch on Thursday, April 30:

In British Columbia, Burnaby Ismaili Muslim community have partnered with Save On Foods at the Burnaby – Willingdon location to benefit the Greater Vancouver Food Bank so people are encouraged to shop there and donate.
