Burnaby Lakers swept out of WLA playoffs by Langley Thunder

The Burnaby Lakers' first playoff appearance since 2008 ended as quickly as it started.

The Lakers dropped an 11-10 home decision to the Langley Thunder on Thursday and were swept out of the Western Lacrosse Association playoffs in four straight games.

The Thunder were led by former Burnaby Jr. Lakers star Garrett Billings, who had five assists on Thursday and was high point man for the visitors.

Sniper Athan Iannucci had three goals and an assist for the Thunder while linemate Lewis Ratcliff had one goal and three assists for the Thunder, who now await the winner of the Coquitlam-Victoria semifinal.

The Lakers were led by Scott Jones, Dane Stevens and Colton Clark, who each had four-point outings in the loss. Matt Quinton also contributed a hat trick for the Lakers, who led 7-6 after two periods, only to be outscored 5-3 in the final frame.
