A 22-year-old Burnaby man faces multiple charges after he was arrested Sunday in connection with a March 29 shooting on Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
Erlan Lizandro Acosta was arrested without incident while driving alone at Kingsway and Harold Street in Vancouver.
Acosta, who is known to police for previous drug-related offences, has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance today.
Acosta has been charged with one count each of attempted murder with a firearm; using a restricted or prohibited firearm; discharging a firearm with intent to harm; possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; occupying a vehicle in which there's a firearm present; knowingly possessing a firearm without a licence; and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The charges all relate to a March 29 incident in the 1600-block of Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
At about 2:45 a.m., a 20-year-old man was walking with two friends when shots were fired at him from a nearby vehicle. The man was rushed to hospital where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Vancouver police detectives identified a suspect early in their investigation and their search led them to Sunday's arrest.
