Burnaby man dies after driving across park into pole in Vancouver

A 74-year-old Burnaby man died Tuesday morning after the car he was driving left the road in an East Vancouver neighbourhood, travelled across a grass park and struck a pole.

A 74-year-old Burnaby man died Tuesday morning after the car he was driving left the road in an East Vancouver neighbourhood, travelled across a grass park and struck a pole.

Vancouver Police are unsure of what caused the accident - in the 3500 block Worthington Drive - and are examining all factors related to the crash, including whether the man suffered from a medical condition that may have caused his death.

He was unresponsive when neighbours and paramedics tried to medically assist him.

The man's name is being withheld.

Tuesday's accident is Vancouver's 15th traffic fatality of 2011.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is asking any potential witnesses to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
