The Burnaby resident was honoured on Sunday for his work on the award-winning documentary, Mixed Match. A partly animated film, Mixed Match helps educate and inspire more people of mixed ethnic diversity to register to become potential stem cell donors.

Burnaby-Lougheed MLA Katrina Chen gave Chiba Stearns a certificate on Sunday to honour his contribution and to kick off National Blood Donor Week, June 11-17. The event took place at a blood collection event at Maywood Community School to thank donors for their lifesaving acts of kindness and generosity. Canadians who are unable to donate blood can give financially, and can encourage others in their networks to become donors. Making an appointment to donate blood has never been easier. To find a nearby donation site visit blood.ca, download the GiveBlood app or call 1-888-2-DONATE (1 888 236-6283). Walk in appointments are also available at all locations.
