The victim of Vancouver's sixth homicide of 2012 has been identified as Burnaby's Ronald William March, 57. March's body was discovered the evening of Aug. 8 in the 3400 block of Renfrew Street after being fatally stabbed in the alley.
In the early morning hours following the stabbing, Lance Wraye Standberg was identified as a person of interest in the stabbing. Police found the 47-year-old man driving erratically in east Vancouver and had attempted to pull him over.
Instead, Standberg refused to stop and led police on a brief chase. He was arrested after crashing into a police cruiser at the intersection of East Broadway and Slocan.
While no charges linked to the stabbing have been laid, Standberg faces one count of flight from a peace officer and one of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Standberg remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Friday. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for an assault in Burnaby.
Police say the attack was targeted and is not believed to be connected to gangs or drugs. Both the victim and the person of interest have had dealings with police.
