A 28-year-old Burnaby construction flag person sustained only minor injuries after being hit by a Burnaby driver in the Edmonds area.

A 28-year-old Burnaby construction flag person sustained only minor injuries after being hit by a Burnaby driver in the Edmonds area.

The Burnaby driver was issued a $368 fine for failing to drive with due care and attention after hitting the flagger in a construction zone on Edmonds Street near Mary Avenue.

"Collisions in construction and maintenance zones are unacceptable," said Cpl. Brenda Gresiuk in a press release. "These collisions are preventable. Motorists need to slow down and pay attention to the warning signs and flag people."

Speed was not a factor in the collision and Gresiuk added the Burnaby RCMP traffic section will continue to do enforcement in construction zones throughout the city.
