Burnaby RCMP joined Mounties from other Lower Mainland detachments on Tuesday for a memorial service in honour of the three officers who were killed in Moncton, N.B last week.

The ceremony, which was held at B.C. RCMP headquarters in Surrey, included a brief march by the officers gathered for the event and a wreath laying ceremony at the Peace Officer Memorial.

Burnaby RCMP have also been collecting messages of condolences in a memorial book at the local detachment office at Deer Lake. The book is available to the public to sign at the Burnaby head office, and once it’s full, Staff Sgt. Maj. John Buis said it would be sent to Moncton RCMP.

Since news broke of the incident last week, Burnaby RCMP have received numerous emails from people in the community looking to extend their condolences to those affected in Moncton. The local RCMP are asking that anyone wanting to send condolences to the Moncton RCMP do so via email at [email protected] or stop by the Deer Lake detachment to sign the memorial book.
