Burnaby RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed a crash that sent a woman to hospital Thursday morning to come forward with information.

Burnaby Mounties are hoping witnesses will come forward to help investigators piece together a crash that sent a pedestrian to hospital.

A woman was hit by a vehicle as she crossed the street at the intersection of Canada Way and Deer Lake Parkway just before 6 a.m. Thursday, according to police. The 46-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Originally, police issued a press release suggesting the incident was a hit-and-run, but RCMP Cpl. Daniela Panesar confirmed someone did come forward claiming to be responsible.

She said the incident is still under investigation, but police are looking for witnesses.

“There’s a lot of questions,” Panesar told the NOW. “The victim doesn’t have a lot of recollection, so now they’re (investigators) just looking for people who may have seen what happened.”

The vehicle is described by police as white.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact Const. Lee of the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services at 604-294-7922.
