Burnaby needs volunteers for Community Safety Advisory Committee

The City of Burnaby is seeking volunteers to serve on the Community Safety Advisory Committee.

The City of Burnaby is looking for volunteers to join its Community Safety Advisory Committee.

The committee collaborates with Burnaby RCMP, city crime reduction staff and others to help identify challenges and solutions regarding public safety.

Committee members, who must sit for a three-year term, “play a pivotal role in enhancing community safety throughout the community,” according to a press release.

To apply:

  1. Review the city’s terms of reference for information about the committee
  2. Email the following to [email protected] with the subject “CSAC Application”:
    1. An expression of interest, explaining why you’re interested in joining this committee (this can be by email or as an attached letter)
    2. Resumé

The deadline to apply is Nov. 30, 2023.

Volunteers who live or work in Burnaby and are “committed to improving community safety” are eligible, and members must complete a police information check to the satisfaction of the Burnaby RCMP.

Committee membership is made up of:

  • 10 resident representatives
  • Five business representatives
  • Up to three non-voting public safety stakeholders
