Non-profit organizations and charities in Burnaby are feeling the impacts of the social and economic disruptions caused by COVID-19 thanks to a drop in donations and service fees - cancelling programs and services, and postponing fundraising events.

However, a new local fund is offering non-profit groups emergency grants to help them get through, and a number of Burnaby charities have already received funding support.
The Community Response Fund is a special fund offered by the United Way of Greater Vancouver, Vancity, the Vancouver Foundation and the City of Vancouver, that will provide grants in the amount of $10,000 and $50,000 for organizations who are either front-line health and social services charities, or charities offering arts, culture, and other community programming and services whose staff, volunteers, programs, and operations have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
The fund is currently accepting submissions for funding consideration, and non-profits can find out more information at this site.
Non-profit organizations are important parts of our community, and this private fund is one great way they can get support above and beyond what is on offer from government.
