A man in a car approached students near Brentwood Park Elementary this week, according to a letter sent out to parents.
The incident was reported to the Burnaby RCMP, and police added patrols in the area, the letter stated. School staff members were also alerted.
The Burnaby school district recommends the following safety precautions for students:
- Tell an adult immediately if they see someone or something that makes them worry or feel uncomfortable.
- Stay with friends; don't travel alone.
- Always get the teacher's permission to leave a class.
- Always stay in well-supervised areas.
Those who notice anything suspicious in their neighbourhoods are asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP directly.
