Five people were arrested on Friday after police executed search warrants on two homes in the Royal Oak Avenue and Imperial Street area.
According to a police press release, members of the Burnaby RCMP's prolific offender suppression team and the RCMP's Lower Mainland emergency response team executed the raid.
At the two properties, police seized stolen property, which included credit cards, sporting equipment, electronics, a replica rifle and marijuana.
Following the search, both houses were condemned as uninhabitable by the Burnaby Fire Department. The homes had previously been slated for demolition.
The homes were also well-known to police, as they had been subject to numerous complaints prior to May 25.
"This is a small but important victory for the police and the citizens of Burnaby," Supt. Derren Lench said in the press release. "Closing down problem properties, where the criminal element congregate, sends a powerful message that we do not tolerate crime and that we will continue to do all we can to improve the quality of life for the good people who call Burnaby home."
