Burnaby RCMP arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly selling drugs at Bonsor Skate Park last Wednesday.
The arrest came after several days of surveillance by community response team officers who were working off a tip from the public, according to a media release.
The investigation culminated in the arrest of the suspect at Bonsor. A subsequent search of his home turned up a large quantity of marijuana, the release added.
"Drug trafficking has no boundaries, and the fact that the arrest occurred at a skateboard park utilized by youth could suggest that some youth were also being supplied marijuana, which is illegal and addictive," said Sgt. Scott Rintoul of the Burnaby RCMP's drug section.
Morning rollover Commuters using Cariboo Road on July 29 were rerouted after an overturned vehicle forced police to close a portion of the New West-Burnaby connector.
Around 8 a.m., a single vehicle flipped over near 12th Avenue and Cariboo Road, according to Staff Sgt. Rob Marks at the Burnaby RCMP.
Police and emergency services closed Cariboo Road between 10th and 16th avenues for about two hours - in both directions - while Burnaby firefighters cut the female driver out of her car, Marks added.
The driver, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital by ambulance.
Police are investigating what caused the rollover, and Marks didn't comment on whether speed was a factor in the crash.
Car theft charges Charges have been approved for the 29-yearold suspect arrested by New Westminster police in Burnaby after he allegedly stole a truck in Burnaby on July 15.
New Westminster police spotted a GMC Jimmy truck around 11:10 a.m. on July 16 in the 400-block of Columbia Street. The truck had been reported stolen in Burnaby the day before, according to a media release.
The patrol officer called for assistance from the street crime unit, who arrived in plainclothes to monitor the vehicle while they waited for the driver to come back. Air 1 was also dispatched to keep an eye on the truck, according to the release.
When the driver came back to the truck, which was occupied by a female passenger, the couple drove away.
They made their way to Burnaby where the driver eventually stopped and parked the car in the 7400-block of Southwynde Avenue.
It was then that officers, who had been following the truck, made their move and arrested the couple and brought them back to New Westminster Surrey resident Jesse Michael Sokol has been charged with theft under $5,000; possession of stolen property under $5,000; and driving while prohibited.
Driver in court A truck driver from Burnaby was in New Westminster Provincial Court last month in regards to charges from a crash that killed a 26-year-old man in April 2011.
Mohammad Abdolmalekpoor, 43, is charged with dangerous driving causing death; driving a vehicle without due care and attention; driving without reasonable consideration; failure to ensure vehicle is in safe operating condition; and operating a vehicle without effective service brakes.
He has been ordered to stand trial in Supreme Court in September, according to B.C.'s communication counsel.
