Burnaby Mounties are asking for the public’s assistance concerning a July incident on a transit bus.
At about 3 p.m. on July 26, a man was “viciously” attacked while riding a Coast Mountain transit bus travelling in the area of Vanness Avenue and Boundary Road, near the Burnaby-Vancouver border, according to a media release.
An unknown individual allegedly hit the man seven times in the leg and, while the bus driver was able to stop the attack, by the time police arrived on the scene, both the assailant and all witnesses had left.
According to the release, the victim suffered minor cuts and swelling to his leg.
Since the incident, no witnesses have come forward, said Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP.
“Police have exhausted the leads that they’ve had, so they’re trying to continue on with it (the investigation),” he said. “We’re kind of putting our fingers out there and saying ‘Look, if you were there and if you saw something, please come forward and let us know,’ so they can aid in the description of (the attacker).”
