The Burnaby RCMP and Burnaby Fire Department are investigating a car fire as a case of arson.
Early Monday morning, just after midnight, the Burnaby RCMP responded to the 7000-block of Enterprise Way, where a 2004 Hyundai Accent was on fire.
After firefighters put out the fire, police started their investigation and according to Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Rick Skolrood, they believe the fire was deliberately set.
"We're not mincing any words," said Skolrood. "This is being investigated as an arson."
A Burnaby man went to Burnaby Hospital and was treated for minor burns to his face.
The fire took place in an industrial area of Burnaby near the Production Way-University SkyTrain station, which is just north of the Burnaby NOW offices.
A witness reported seeing a dark-skinned male, dressed in dark clothing, leaving the scene of the fire in a grey 2006 Honda four-door sedan.
The Burnaby RCMP is still investigating and asks that anyone with information concerning this incident to call 604-294-7922.
