The Burnaby RCMP are investigating a report of a single shot being fired at a house in the 5500-block of Forest Street late Sunday night.

According to Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. with a report of a single shot being fired at the home in a quiet neighbourhood not far from the Douglas Elementary School and Burnaby school board offices.

"We believe the house was targeted, but the three people inside are not known to police," said Reid.

Police have heard from witnesses that a darker model small hatchback-type car was seen leaving the area, but that's the extent of the vehicle description.

"Police are still investigating and at this point, we have no suspects," said Reid.
