The Burnaby RCMP are trying to locate and interview a woman who police say was almost robbed in Metrotown on Wednesday.
She is described as an Asian woman in her early 20s who may not speak English.
The incident occurred yesterday at about 2 p.m., after the woman had left Metrotown SkyTrain station, according to a press release from the RCMP.
She walked south into an alley between Telford and Sussex avenues, and was surrounded by a group of men. The woman began screaming and running away from the men when a plainsclothes police officer came upon the scene, the release stated.
The men tried to run from police but were taken into custody, the release added, and the woman was told to call 911 and stay where she was, but she left without making a report.
Burnaby RCMP's strike force is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information about the woman or the incident is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP detachment at 604-294-7922 and ask to speak with Cpl. Keith Schendel or Const. Dallas Tateyama.
Information can also be reported to B.C. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 TIPS-8477.
