What seemed like a routine pull over after the driver of an SUV made an illegal left turn led to a large drug bust for Burnaby RCMP.
A constable with the RCMP's traffic section pulled over the Ford Explorer SUV on Tuesday after the driver heading south made an illegal left turn from Royal Oak Avenue onto Kingsway, according to a press release from the Burnaby RCMP.
The constable noticed "several indicators of criminal activity," the release stated, and found the "male driver was being evasive about his identity."
The driver was arrested, and the vehicle was searched. The search turned up a large amount of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin; money, and jewelry, according to the release.
The driver was also found to be in Canada illegally, the release added.
Miguel Jiminez Sanchez, a resident of Mexico, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.
Sanchez was remanded into custody and was awaiting disposition of the charges, the release stated.
