May is intersection safety month and the Burnaby RCMP has stepped up enforcement in an attempt to make Burnaby intersections safer.
According to Cpl. Rick Skolrood of the Burnaby RCMP, the focus on intersections is an attempt to reduce the number and severity of intersection-related crashes.
According to ICBC statistics, more than 51,000 people are injured in crashes at B.C. intersections each year. About 60 per cent of all crashes in the province take place in intersections, which works out to 241 crashes each day.
