A Burnaby woman is in serious condition following a collision that happened on Saturday at Grange and Patterson streets.
At about 4:30 p.m. on July 20, officers were called to the scene, near Kingsway Avenue to attend to a reported accident.
According to police, a 46-year-old woman and a child, 9, had been crossing Grange Street in a marked crosswalk when a driver, travelling westbound on Grange, allegedly hit the pedestrians and "projected" them forward.
Both pedestrians - residents of Burnaby - were taken to hospital where the woman remains in serious condition. The child sustained non-life threatening injuries and has since been release from hospital, said Cpl. David Chu of the Burnaby RCMP's traffic services unit.
The driver, a 57-year-old man from Vancouver, was driving a blue SUV when he allegedly struck the pedestrians and has been cooperating with police, Chu added.
Burnaby RCMP's traffic services unit is investigating the crash and any witnesses are asked to contact Chu at 604-294-7922.
