Simon Fraser University on Burnaby Mountain is going online for its instruction due to COVID-19.
“Following information and advice about COVID-19 from regional and provincial health officers, SFU will be moving away from in-person instruction beginning next week for the remainder of the term,” said the school. “Students will hear from their instructor on next steps.”
SFU is also taking precautions to prevent the spread of communicable illnesses on our campuses including:
- Promoting good hygiene practices among members of the university community (e.g., handwashing) and providing appropriate hand-cleaning facilities and/or alternatives like alcohol hand rubs;
- Ensuring SFU premises are appropriately cleaned and maintained to prevent the spread of communicable illnesses, and informing members of the university community in the use of appropriate disinfecting materials.
- In response to the province's updated event recommendations, event planners across SFU will review upcoming events and begin to cancel those that are over 250 people. SFU is also assessing lectures of 250 and more students to determine how these classes will continue going forward.
