Burnaby sees no movement in COVID-19 second dose vaccination rates among eligible Burnaby children

New Westminster is first in Fraser Health with 59 per cent for second doses.

Burnaby's second dose vaccination rate against COVID-19 in eligible children has seen no movement in the past week, government data says. 

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) vaccine coverage progress by Local Health Authority, Burnaby sits at 58 per cent as of July 17, the same rate it was on July 10. 

New Westminster is the highest city when it comes to second doses in eligible children at 59 per cent. 

As of July 17, 2022, percentages across Fraser Health are as follows:

  • Tri-Cities - 54 per cent
  • Surrey - 40 per cent
  • South Surrey.White Rock - 51 per cent
  • New Westminster - 59 per cent
  • Mission - 26 per cent
  • Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows - 44 per cent
  • Langley - 42 per cent 
  • Hope - 22 per cent 
  • Delta - 52 per cent 
  • Chilliwack - 29 per cent 
  • Burnaby - 58 per cent 
  • Agassiz/Harrison - 24 per cent
  • Abbotsford - 28 per cent 

Case counts across Burnaby also dropped in Burnaby during the past week. 

The BC Center for Disease Control's (BCCDC) Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residenc says  Burnaby saw 47 cases from July 10 to 16. 

The city recorded 62 infections from July 3 to 9.
