A 78-year-old Burnaby man hit by a transit bus on Nov. 23 has died.
According to Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP, the man was crossing Austin Avenue southbound near Gatineau Place at approximately 9: 30 a.m. when he was struck by the bus. He sustained serious injuries to his head and chest and was taken to Royal Columbia Hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.
Reid said police are also reminding the public to exercise caution when crossing the street.
"Use marked intersections or designated crosswalks and watch for oncoming traffic," said Reid. "Be sure they see you and be sure you have sufficient time to cross safely."
