The Burnaby school district’s Class of ’22 has earned a total of $6.8 million in scholarships and bursaries this year.
The awards range from a few hundred dollars to $100,000.
“Every dollar helps students achieve their post-secondary dreams,” states a school district news release.
The biggest award winners at local public schools include École Moscrop Secondary grad Anna Muyan Li who earned a $100,000 University of Toronto Engineering International Scholar Award; Burnaby Mountain Secondary grad Sarah Lennon who earned an $80,000 UBC Centennial Scholars award; and Byrne Creek Community School grad Ervin Cadiz who scooped up a $70,000 TD Scholarship for Community Leadership.
Burnaby Central Secondary graduates earned a number of athletic awards, including three significant women’s soccer scholarships offered to three grads of the Soccer Academy at Central put on in partnership with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Ava Wright and Andrea Kraetzer earned athletic scholarships from Arizona State, while Olivia Ahern got one from the University of Texas.
And 17 local grads were awarded Beedie Luminaries scholarships of up to $40,000 each for their post-secondary studies:

- Masihullah Mohammad Rafi, Burnaby Mountain
- Ozair Siddiqui, Moscrop
- Damion Tran, Moscrop
- Richard Zou, Burnaby North
