Burnaby woman makes final round of Christmas singing contest

Burnaby resident Tatiana Banden has made it to the final round of an all-ages Christmas-themed singing contest and will perform in the finale this weekend.

Burnaby resident Tatiana Banden has made it to the final round of an all-ages Christmas-themed singing contest and will perform in the finale this weekend.

The 20-year old will deliver her most heartfelt rendition of A Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant at the Vancouver Christmas Market at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Banden was chosen as one of 12 finalists from a series of contestants who performed in the Xmas Factor contest hosted by Studio Cloud 30 Entertainment. The contest ran every Friday night from Nov. 24 during the Christmas market.

One winner will walk away this weekend with a grand prize valued at $5,000, which includes a fully mixed and mastered recording of the winner's chosen song, as well as a promotional and development package.

Banden has been singing since she was five years old, developing her vocal skills with lessons and in choirs.

Now that she has made it to the final round, Banden is hopeful this could be a big break in her career path as a professional singer.

"It would be fantastic," she said. "I'd be able to work with Studio Cloud 30 to develop my music... and kind of get myself out there."

Admission to the Christmas market is $5, which is open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza is located at the corner of West Georgia and Hamilton Streets in Vancouver.
