Kaleigh Fratkin has another accolade to add to her résumé.

The Burnaby product and Boston Pride defender has been named captain of Team Canada for the upcoming Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) All-Star showcase, scheduled for Sunday (Jan. 29) in Toronto.

"It's an honour to be named the All-Star captain for Team Canada," she said in a news release.

"I've been fortunate enough to be a part of several PHF All-Star games, and it's always a fun weekend for both players and fans. I'm looking forward to the new setup this year that showcases the talent in our league across different countries. It's truly a testament to how far the league has come over the years. I'm confident our team can pull out the 'W' in front of our Canadian fans!"

With her 2023 nod, Fratkin is now a five-time all-star between the PHF and former National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).

Fratkin began her career with the Connecticut Whale as part of the Founding Four in 2015-16 before joining the Metropolitan Riveters in the NWHL for the 2016-17 season.

The 30-year-old then joined Boston for the 2017-18 season and won back-to-back Isobel Cups with the team in 2021 and 2022.

In 15 games played this season, Fratkin has tallied one goal and seven assists with 10 penalty minutes.

Madison Packer of the Metropolitan Riveters will captain Team USA while Kateřina Mrázová of the Connecticut Whale will lead Team World.

“This year’s captains were each selected by their All-Star teammates to represent them on this stage, which is a credit to their skill, experience, leadership, character, and how well-respected they are among their peers,” PHF commissioner Reagan Carey added in the release.

“Both Madison and Kaleigh have helped build the league since its inaugural season, and Kateřina was one of the league’s first international stars before the recent wave of incoming talent from overseas. Congratulations to all three captains who are most deserving of this honor, and best of luck this weekend!”

The 2023 All-Star game will be broadcast on TSN, TSN.ca and the TSN app Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.
