Slowly but surely, more people are taking the bus in New Westminster and Burnaby.
TransLink's 2012 bus service performance review shows ridership has increased over the past four years in Burnaby and New Westminster. The review is broken down into three levels: system-wide, sub-regional and route-by-route.
In Burnaby and New Westminster, ridership per hour went up by 23 per cent over a four-year trend, with an average of 60 riders an hour in 2012.
"Transit services in the Burnaby/New Westminster area are typically at or near regional averages in all performance metrics," the report states.
TransLink also considered its capacity utilization, which looks at the total number of passenger trips made, compared to the number of spaces provided.
In Burnaby and New West, capacity utilization sat at 74 per cent in 2012, which is down by 2.6 per cent over the last four years.
