Multiple people were injured in a head-on collision on Wednesday afternoon on one of Burnaby’s busiest roads during rush hour.
Just after 3 p.m., Burnaby first-responder crews were called to a head-on crash between a small car and a flagger company truck on Canada Way at Hazelmere Street near Imperial.
At least one person had to be cut out of the car by Burnaby firefighters. Multiple people were transported to hospital by paramedics.
The road remains closed in both directions while RCMP investigate the collision.
“Our Criminal Collision Investigative Team has been called and Canada Way will remain closed for several hours while they investigate the cause of the collision,” RCMP tweet at 5 p.m. ” Two passengers seated in the sedan were taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries while the driver was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup was uninjured and is cooperating with our investigation.”
