The pedestrian-friendly festivals are back

Car Free Days are returning to Vancouver in September with a handful of events across the city.

Vancouver's West End, Commercial Drive and Mount Pleasant will all see the return of Car Free Days this September.

After a Car Free Month in 2021 the organization is going back to its trio of day-long festivals, blocking off thoroughfares in three popular neighbourhoods to give people a chance to experience the city as it would be without cars.

"Come enjoy delicious food and drinks, local art, live music, and celebrate car-free culture with us," says the organization online.

The three days are:

  • Saturday, September 10 (noon - 7 p.m.): Commercial drive from North Grandview Highway to 1st Avenue
  • Sunday, September 18 (noon - 7 p.m.): Main Street from 10 Avenue to 25 Avenue
  • Sunday, September 25 (noon - 7 p.m.) - Denman Street from Davie Street to Robson Street

Organizers suggest those who don't live in the neighbourhood use transit to get to the events.
