Question: How long have you lived in Burnaby?
Answer: I have to think back but somewhere close to maybe 10 years.
Q: Why do you think you are uniquely qualified to represent the riding?
A: I'm not exactly the same as everybody else in government, which is one of the reasons I ran, because I didn't see someone I wanted to see in government.
I'm just an ordinary person who's working hard to pay off student loans, have a house, just like everybody else, and I think we need some regular voices in there that aren't what we see now.
Q: What would be your own personal priority as an MLA?
A: My own personal priority? Represent the riding, for one. There's always specific issues. Until you get in there you never know exactly what you can do.
So, number 1 would be make sure we can stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline from going through, as much as possible, and work from there.
Q: What accomplishment in your life are you proudest of?
A: I've run five times and survived (laughs).
I've learned a lot just from running, and I'm very happy I've been able to help some people, even, if I have gotten them involved, gotten them to vote.
Q: Who, in your life, has been a role model for you?
A: There's so many. Politically, there's Elizabeth May and the other women who have actually been MLAs and MPs and politicians, I've learned from them.
I went to women's campaign school and met so many who are just amazing, so I'd have to say all the women who have come before me, really.
