This year's inductee into Burnaby's Business Excellence Hall of Fame is the Carter Automotive family, the Burnaby Board of Trade has announced.

The company was founded in 1963 and is comprised of four dealerships, a commercial leasing company, and provides mobile glass repair and vehicle insurance services.

"I am pleased to announce the Carter Automotive Family as this year's inductee," said Paul Holden, president and CEO of the Burnaby Board of Trade, in a press release. "Carter has been in business for close to 50 years. Their longevity and enormous success as one of Burnaby's premier businesses is a result of their adaptability, ability to develop strong relationships with their customers and community and their overall commitment to business excellence."

Burnaby's mayor makes the induction of a business into the hall of fame annually.

"It is an honour to have our business selected as the 2011 inductee into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame," Carter president Bill Mitchell said in the release. "All Carter associates should be proud of their accomplishment. It is our people that deserve the credit for our companies success over the past 48 years."

The inductee will be honoured at the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards hall of fame and nominees' luncheon, being held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel on October 6.

Shortlisted finalists for the eight nominated categories of the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards will also be announced at the luncheon.
