Two teens were among a group of five people arrested in relation to suspected street-level drug dealing in Burnaby last week.
On Wednesday at about 1:15 p.m., officers patrolling near Gilley Avenue and Dickens Street spotted a vehicle “being driven in a suspicious manner,” according to a Burnaby RCMP news release.
“Police then observed this vehicle meet with another in a manner which led police to believe that a drug deal was taking place,” the release said.
Extra officers were called in to assist, and police stopped the vehicles.

One occupant tried to flee, according to police, but he was caught, and all five occupants from both cars were taken into custody.
Police seized baggies of suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine ready for sale as well as $5,000 in cash and several cell phones.
Three of those involved were released at the scene, but two youths were released to their guardians.
“Some of those arrested are suspected to be involved in gangs in our city,” Cpl. Brett Cunningham said in the release. “Our community response team officers will continue to use their intuition and local knowledge to successfully disrupt alleged drug dealing activities by these individuals.”
