Burnaby Public Library has revealed the top eight most popular reads of the year in its newly released 2023 annual report.
There were a total of 2.55 million physical items and 420,899 digital items checked out last year.

- Adult non-fiction: Spare by Prince Harry
- Teen fiction: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
- Children's fiction: Jessi's Secret Language: A Graphic Novel (The Baby-Sitters Club) by Chan Chau
Most checked out digital copies
- Adult fiction: Verity by Colleen Hoover
- Adult non-fiction: I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
- Teen fiction: Heartstopper: Volume 1 by Alice Oseman
- Children's fiction: Wings of Fire: The Graphic Novel, Book Five: The Brightest Night by Tui T. Sutherland and art by Mike Holmes
The library has previously said digital checkouts are increasing: in 2022, the library noted the number of e-book and audiobook checkouts increased 17 per cent from 2021.
