With the holiday season still three months off, Burnaby North's Christmas Cheer Club is already gearing up to reach their annual goal of raising $10,000 for the Burnaby Christmas Bureau.

Student organizer Bevin Ng sent the NOW details of an event this weekend that they are hoping will put a big dent in that goal.

The Ford Drive One 4UR School event allows people to test drive Ford cars, with $20 being donated to the school's fundraising campaign in their name for each test drive. New model Fords, such as Mustangs, will be available for test drives; drivers must be at least 18 years old and have an 'N' or class 5 driver's licence.

The event takes place this Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the school at 751 Hammerskjold Dr.

The student organization has been a significant contributor to the bureau's annual campaign - in the last 10 years, they've raised more than $200,000 through a number of fundraisers and activities.
