Wine Food and Music Festival, held by the Rotary Club of Metrotown at Lougheed Town Centre from 7: 30 to 9: 30 p.m. Wine, food, and musical entertainment, as well as a silent auction and door prizes. The event benefits local B.C. Rotary literacy programs, the Down Syndrome Research Foundation, polio eradication and other local Burnaby and international charities. Tickets are $40 (10 or more are $35 each) and are available via Lougheed Town Centre's customer service.

Salmon Release in Eagle Creek with 50,000 chum salmon for the public to help release into Eagle Creek at Charles Rummel Park (at Government Road and Lozells Avenue), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hot dogs, chili and drinks available.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada's Pineapple Challenge, 9: 30 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m. at Swangard Stadium, 3883 Imperial St.

The Pineapple Challenge has teams of two to 10 racing along a five km obstacle course. This fun, Hawaiian themed event wraps up with a post event luau party with food, music and beer. Teams are encouraged to dress up in their silliest and most creative costumes. Get voted as best dressed team. The obstacles are a surprise until event day but participants can expect to see approximately 10 different obstacles. The funds raised through this event will support lifesaving blood cancer research and local patient services. The family friendly event has a participation age minimum of 15 years.

Swangard Stadium will host the start/finish, final obstacle, and luau party, and the spectator area is open to all ages. For more information, go to www.pineapplechallenge.ca.
