Mayor Derek Corrigan and Burnaby city councillors will each receive a raise of slightly more than three per cent for 2011.
The decision was made by the council indemnity advisory committee and was approved by council at Monday night's council meeting.
The mayor's pay works out to $78,355 for the basic indemnity amount, with $39,177 for his expense allowance, totalling $117,532.
It is retroactive back to January 2011. Corrigan's pay jump is a modest increase compared with last year's 17 per cent jump, which was intended to bring his pay rate in line with the mayors of the other large cities in the Lower Mainland.
The councillors' raises bring each up to $45,368 for the year, with $30,245 for the basic indemnity and $15,123 for their expense allowance.
The raise was determined using three market indicators. The committee used the 2010 Consumer Price Index for Vancouver, at 2.48 per cent; the 2010 average weekly wage increase in B.C., at 2.72 per cent; and the 2010 Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 23, pay increase, at four per cent, to determine an average increase of 3.07 per cent.
An indemnity review was announced earlier this summer, with any recommendations coming into force for the mayor and council following the November 2011 municipal election.
