The snow is gone, the air is warmer, and that special season has arrived.
That's right - it's civic award nomination time.
The City of Burnaby is looking for nominations for its annual Environment Awards.
The award categories are: business stewardship, communications, community stewardship, green choices, planning and development, and youth.
Nominations are due by April 16. The city is also looking for nominations for its 2012 Local heroes, with nominations due by May 4.
Nomination forms are available on the city's website at www. burnaby.ca in PDF form, and at city hall and recreation centres.
One group of citizens has already been honoured by the city this spring - Burnaby's Snow Angels received their certificates of recognition from the mayor at the April 2 council meeting.
In all, 18 residents received certificates from Mayor Derek Corrigan and Burnaby council at the meeting: Allie Wright, Ally Fox, Aneil Atwal, Cindy Yang, David Gates, Diane Gillis, Erica Lamb, Gloria Tom Wing Staudt, Jamie Evans, Joanna Zhang, Maria Zhou, Mary Gates, Sristika Chand, Stanley Lowe, Suzanne Fox, Vivian Sun, Yifei Wang and Yunheng Chen.
