Burnaby's main warming centre will be opened for the rest of this month as winter weather continues to hit Metro Vancouver.
Snow and cold temperatures have been steady for weeks, which has prompted the city to open its warming centre at Bonsor Recreation Complex (6550 Bonsor Ave.) until Feb. 1, 2022, from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. daily for those in need.
The city says the complex in the Metrotown neighbourhood was chosen because it's centrally located, close to transit and other amenities.
Other homeless services available in Burnaby include:
- Douglas Shelter (2294 Douglas Rd.)
- Emergency Response Centre (3680 Sperling Ave.)
- Extreme weather shelters
- Southside Community Church (7135 Walker Ave. Open from the 1 to 15 of the month)
- Westminster Bible Chapel (7549 6th St. Open 16th to the end of the month)
