If you use an app for reminders about your waste-disposal issues, the City of Burnaby says you need to make a change.
According to a post on the city’s website, residents using the My Waste app should download the app Recycle Coach before June 14 to “ensure they continue to receive pickup reminders for curbside garbage, recycling and green bin collection.”
“Due to changes to Apple's App Store Guidelines, the My Waste app is being phased out. Recycle Coach is from the same company (Municipal Media Inc.). Apple's new guidelines prevent a company from having multiple apps in the app store with the same functionality. This change affects tens of thousands of apps. By downloading Recycle Coach, residents will continue to receive the exact same information. The Recycle Coach app is available for iOS or Android.”
My Waste app users started to receive daily notifications on May 6, asking them to download the Recycle Coach app. After doing so they should delete the My Waste app.
