City unveils four new electric vehicle charging stations in two Burnaby locations

The City of Burnaby has unveiled four new electric vehicle charing stallls.

Burnaby electric vehicle drivers now have more stations to plug in. 

The city says it has added four new electric vehicle charging stalls, which brings the city-wide total to 32 stalls. There are also more scheduled to come. 

There are two new stalls each at the following locations. 

  • Central Park Parking Lot (off Patterson Avenue at Kingway)
  • MacDonald Avenue and Hastings Street

Other locations that have existing electric vehicle charging stalls are as follows. 

  • Bill Copeland Sports Centre (two)
  • Bob Prittie Metrotown Library (four)
  • Bonsor Reception Complex (four_
  • Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West (two)
  • Central Park Tennis Courts (two)
  • City hall (two)
  • Edmonds Community Centre (four)
  • Edmonds Park (two)
  • McGill Library (two)
  • Riverway Golf Course (two)
  • Shadbolt Centre for the Arts (two)

All stalls owned by the city run on a pay-per-charge-basis. 

It is currently $2 per hour between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. and $1 per hour between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. plus parking meter rates. 

The city says according to a provincial report, there were 15,451 new EVs registered in B.C. during 2020.
